Our Objective
Musical Comedy auditions for the 2023 2024 school year are coming soon.
Please check the Bilingual Choir for the 2022 2023 school year.
Our year-long program challenges children in enriching ways that help them soar past inhibition to experience the joy of ensemble preparation and performance, while seamlessly adding English language acquisition to the mix. Decades later, former students tell us that their musical theater experience was a key moment in their young lives.
Our Program
Each Company has a weekly 1.5 hour class providing instruction in voice, acting, diction, and dance.
Both classes are held on Tuesdays during the academic year, with two additional intensive weekend workshops.
Preproduction weeks are full of eager anticipation, gleeful last-minute preparations, and mutual encouragement. Friendships are formed, stage-fright is overcome, and the collective pride we see at curtain call is palpable.
The program culminates in a live CABARET show produced and performed by both Companies in a Parisian theater. Friends and families are encouraged to attend.
For our 2022 production students will perform pieces from Broadway shows such as Wicked, Grease, The Lion King, Guys & Dolls, The King & I, The Wizard of Oz, Billy Elliott, The Little Mermaid, and Mathilda.
A History of Musical Theater at Koenig
L’Ecole Koenig was the first music school in France to produce a full-scale Broadway show with a cast of children. Our 1998 production of Peter Pan played to a packed house three nights running in the prestigious Salle Adyar of Paris.
The production was the first of many, including My Fair Lady, Annie, The Sound of Music, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Anagana, an original work commissioned by the school.
These memorable productions have involved hundreds of students of all ages. Our youngest children have been Munchkins and Oompa Loompas; our teenagers have reveled in the challenging roles of Professor Higgins or Mrs. Hannigan.
