The Jazz and Rock Bands of our music school offer students the vital experience of making music together. Under experienced professionals' tutelage, budding musicians explore new repertoires such as jazz, rock, blues, or Cuban styles. The Ensembles may include more than one pianist, guitarist, or drummer. Pianists and guitarists have the opportunity to rehearse on both acoustic and electric instruments, while drummers try their hand at the congas and a full drum kit.
This class counts as the group class portion of our music school's enrollment formula (“formule”). Piano, guitar, and drum students take an individual instrumental lesson and participate in either a Music Theory class or a Jazz and Rock band.
At L'Ecole Koenig, we believe that the earlier the child begins performing, the greater his/her confidence will be in all areas of life. Twice a year, students in the Jazz & Rock division perform at historic concert venues in Paris, such as Sunset/Sunside Jazz Club or Le Bal Blomet. We strongly encourage our students to prepare for the RockSchool exams organized at our music school each year in June. These exams are internationally recognized and can be a strong source of motivation. For more information, please visit the RockSchool website.
