The American Conservatory’s music theory classes, Formation Musicale, are exceptional. Our students achieve an excellent level of note and rhythmic reading while progressing at sight-reading. In the Classical Musical section we require five years of music theory classes, which is the equivalent to the French conservatory’s “Premier Cycle”.
The American Conservatory provides varied opportunities to perform: we believe that the earlier the child begins performing, the greater his/her confidence will be.
Our teachers also encourage their students to play together in duos or trios while organizing once or twice a year workshops during the weekend, involving students of different ages and levels. These musical exchanges are essential to the students’ development as musicians.
The American Conservatory encourages students to prepare for the ABRSM exams (Associated Board Royal School of Music) held at the American Conservatory each year in May. These exams are internationally recognized and provide a strong source of motivation.
If you are interested in more information on the ABRSM exams, please visit their website: ABRSM.
We also offer individual preparation for the ABRSM Grade 5 practical musicianship test: ABRSM Grade 5 Practical Musicianship Test. Please contact us for further information.
