Financial Aid: American Conservatory
Policies and Procedures
L’Ecole Koenig American Conservatory provides instruction in music, theater and English to children from a very young age through a challenging and motivating pedagogy in an encouraging environment.
In our conservatory, we believe that the benefits of learning music, theater, and languages are fundamental and that every child should have this opportunity. We are committed, within our means, to making enrollment possible for children who otherwise would not be able to attend our conservatory due to limited financial means.
Tuition assistance is awarded based on demonstrated financial need.
Criteria and Eligibility for Financial Aid
Financial aid is available for all students. However, priority is given to the following:
- Families with children enrolled for over 5 years at the l’Ecole Koenig
- Families with children already enrolled who experience a significant change in financial circumstances resulting in an inability to pay the tuition
- Families with multiple children enrolled
- Motivated, invested and hard-working children
- Families willing to be flexible with the time slot and day of their children’s lessons
Procedures
All applicants must complete and return the Financial Aid Application. The PDF is available for download here:
American Conservatory Financial Aid Application
Parents must also provide official tax return documents and an official letter from the parents’ employers stating what benefits they receive other than their salary. A list of the child’s other extracurricular activities, their fees and a certificate of the “family quotient” delivered by the Caisse d’Allocations Familiales are also required. Divorced or separated parents are expected to each submit their financial information.
Please ask the administration for this school year’s deadlines.
Financial aid is awarded on an annual basis and parents must re-apply for tuition assistance each year. Once the budget has been exhausted, L’Ecole Koenig American Conservatory can offer no more aid in that year. Due to budgetary constraints, it should be noted that financial aid is not necessarily available for all accepted students who qualify for it. No scholarship will exceed 50% of the school fees.
Financial Aid decisions are made by the School’s Directors and Accounting Officers.
The decision is reached by looking closely at the family’s circumstances and by calculating the percentage of financial assistance required by each family.
Confidentiality
We adhere to a policy of strict confidentiality.
All financial aid applications and grant awards are completely confidential.
It should be noted that a family who receives financial aid should ensure that the remaining payment due is rendered to the School on time. If not, the aid package and the child’s enrollment can be rescinded.

Your Donations
A message from Sylvie Mathias, President of Les Amis de L’Ecole Koenig:
The financial equilibrium of our non-profit school remains fragile. In contrast with municipal conservatories or schools contracted by the State, we do not receive any financial aid from the French government, nor from any private foundations. Our entire operating budget consists of the tuition fees paid by our families. It is for this reason that your support is vital.
Each family can help in a very personal and concrete manner: if the 300 families whose children are enrolled at L’Ecole Koenig donated 40€ each, the total of these donations would add up to 12.000€!
This would permit us to address our most urgent needs:
- Awarding scholarships to families whose means do not allow enrollment at the American Conservatory or the Kindergarten, for children who are motivated and deserving.
- Purchase of specialized computer tools for our Kindergarten class for the acquisition of reading, writing and mathematics skills.
- Replacement of musical instruments for our Kindergarten class as well as our First Steps, Discovery Group and Mini-Classes at the American Conservatory.
- Repairing one of our speakers used by the Modern Music department at the American Conservatory.
A French tax deduction of 66% applies to your donations.
- Sample donation amount: 40€
- Cost of donation after tax deduction: 13,60€
For each donation you will receive an official French tax receipt (reçu fiscal).
Donations in kind (sheet music, instruments, sound equipment) are also welcome.
