Our Modern Music section guarantees a solid musical education.
Many teachers and collaborators in the Modern Music section are distinguished performing musicians on the Paris scene and internationally.
Piano and guitar students start the program with three years of Music Theory (Formation Musicale, one hour) and a 30-minute individual lesson each week (a 45-minute individual lesson for the most advanced students).
Our drum students follow Formation Musicale for two years as well as a 30-minute individual lesson.
Once they have completed two or three years of Formation Musicale, these students can join an ensemble. These ensembles allow the students to play together and to explore new repertoire, such as jazz, rock, blues or even Cuban.
Please note that each ensemble may integrate more than one pianist, guitarist or drummer. Pianists are able to explore the piano/electric keyboard while drummers, the congas as well as the drum set. We also enroll new students throughout the year if the demand arises.
The American Conservatory provides varied opportunities to perform: we believe that the earlier the child begins performing, the greater his/her confidence will be. Once a year, our students in the Modern Music section perform at the Bal Blomet.
The American Conservatory encourages our students to prepare for the RockSchool exams organized at our music school each year in June. These exams are internationally recognized and can be a strong source of motivation.
